The ATUM series products by TE Connectivity have an internal adhesive coating which, when heated, melts and seals the connection, forming an excellent isolating barrier. In this way, the tubes are protected not only against short-circuits, but also against corrosive agents as well as ordinary moisture. The adhesive inside ATUM tubes bonds with a wide range of plastics, rubber and metals, including: PVC, polyethylene, rubber and aluminium. The high flexibility of the ATUM series tubes makes them ideal for repairing cables and wires in industrial installations – not only in machine parks, but also in the field of automotive electrics – where connections are exposed to vibrations.
The ATUM tubes are available with 3:1 and 4:1 shrink ratio. These high Ratios often make it possible to repair cables without removing the connector – an untapered tube can cover multiple connectors.
